While there are more affordable VPS services out there, A2 is a worthy consideration because of its excellent support. It is a company that takes a remarkable care of non-clients goes to great extents for its trusted users. Its VPS solutions tick all boxes by offering root access, fully managed, and full unmanaged virtual servers for businesses of any size and technical acumen.
A longstanding company which won’t disappear overnight, and the low-level offers can safely accommodate projects of a smaller scale. Just keep in mind that you are on your own, even on a managed VPS service, as I wouldn’t rely too much on GoDaddy’s live assistance for anything. Indeed, the company knows how to cut a deal, but it knows equally well how to cut corners.
One of the biggest pitfalls of VPS hosting is having to manage your entire server environment by yourself. If your virtual server is not configured and maintained well, you may face serious security risks and performance loss. Managed VPS hosting services have appeared on the market as a viable solution to this problem. You can think of it as an enhanced alternative of VPS hosting, that comes with full technical support.

So that’s it, then – a VPS is for everything in between, right? Well, yes…and no. A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a flexible solution that falls in between shared and dedicated hosting, not only in price but also in the way it functions. Like a dedicated server, a site hosted on a VPS gets its own RAM and disk space; however, like a shared server, it uses the same processing capacity (CPU) as a certain number of other sites. So, while your site’s performance isn’t reliant on shared RAM and disk space, it is dependent on a shared processor. Moreover, the distribution of processor share varies from provider to provider.  The table below shows how most hosting companies break down the differences between shared, VPS, and dedicated hosting plans:

The force driving server virtualization is similar to that which led to the development of time-sharing and multiprogramming in the past. Although the resources are still shared, as under the time-sharing model, virtualization provides a higher level of security, dependent on the type of virtualization used, as the individual virtual servers are mostly isolated from each other and may run their own full-fledged operating system which can be independently rebooted as a virtual instance.

With dedicated hosting, you rent an entire physical server for your business. If you have a high-traffic website dedicated hosting can be the best solution for you, as dedicated servers are fast, flexible, and fully customizable. However, the service definitely comes with a price tag as well, so they are not worth for everyone, especially if you have a small or medium website.

You'll also want to determine how long you'll need VPS web hosting. If you need hosting for a short time period—say, less than a month or two—you'll typically receive a refund should you cancel your hosting within 60 days. These money-back guarantees vary from web host to web host. For example, Company X may offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, while Company Y may offer a lengthy 90-day money-back guarantee. As always, it's best to shop around for the features that best suit your web hosting needs.
This means just a few domains could pull an entire reseller website offline if transfer limits are not closely monitored on a regular basis. Many Cloud VPS plans offer a "pay as you go" approach to billing where only the actual amount of CPU resources, storage, and I/O processes are billed. Systems administrators and website publishers need to calculate expected monthly traffic rates when estimating how many system resources are required to support a website in production. "Pay as you go" approaches can be more costly than fixed ratio accounts, where the trade-off is typically a more advanced VPS platform and toolset.

A VPS doesn’t just have more RAM, disk space, and a  proprietary share of CPU than a shared account. Depending on the provider, some VPS plans offer burstable memory, which is a pool of RAM set aside for extraordinary events. This is the stuff that can help counter the so-called “Digg-effect,” that much-whispered about occurrence that’s the simultaneous hope and fear of everyone who runs a web site. When you have an unexpected high traffic event, burstable memory will call on a pool of reserved, shared memory to satisfy the needs of temporary high traffic. This is not available on shared servers and, while the necessary memory is available on a dedicated server, your site might not get the kind of traffic on a daily basis to justify the expense of a dedicated server. Again, not all VPS plans have burstable memory, so ask your provider if their VPS plans do.

Managed VPS plans offer a managed environment similar to our shared hosting accounts, but with increased resource availability. If you are outgrowing a shared hosting environment, but are not ready yet to make the leap to a dedicated server, you should consider a managed VPS. This plan is also a good option if you need certain customizations that are not provided with shared hosting plans, but you would still like A2 Hosting to handle configuration changes, software upgrades, and other system administration tasks.

The most obvious and popular reason for a VPS is to run a single website, or multiple websites. However, you can use them for pretty much anything that requires access to the internet – such as a web application like Nextcloud to run your own Dropbox alternative – or to create your own virtual private network to better secure the internet connection of your PCs and mobile devices.
You can check your hostname under Webmin > Networking > Network Configuration > Hostname and DNS Client. Unfortunately, some hosting companies overwrite this information every time a VPS is rebooted - you may need to contact them to get it changed. Choose a fully-qualified subdomain that you own, such as "webserver.mydomain.com" or "mail.mydomain.com". Do NOT accept a generic name provided by the hosting company if you will be sending email from the server because spam filters will block it and you can't easily generate SSL certificates for it.

We strongly believe in high quality standards and Hence you’ll always find our services better than every other host in this industry. We understand the value of time and hence our ordering process is very simple. Customers can choose servers from multiple price levels to suit their budgets.”
DreamHost has been a top hosting provider for several years. Their VPS plans come with a bunch of features that show real value for the price. The base package comes with 1GB RAM and 30GB SSD storage. Some of the core features include managed VPS security options, such as PHP release updates, manual security patches, latest WordPress security upgrades and more.
Hostinger provides a 6-tier plan for their VPS hosting services, which you can choose to fit the needs of your website. Their Plan 1 offers the basic specs with 1,000 GB (aka 1TB) of bandwidth, 20 GB of disk space, and about 1 GB of RAMs. If you want more, you can opt for Plan 6 which gives you a whopping 8 GB of RAM, 160 GB of disk space and 6,000 GB of bandwidth.

“After having shared hosting plans with other providers for many years, I switched all of my sites to Liquid Web a few months ago for my first VPS experience. It's been smooth, fast, and easy to use. At one point I suddenly ran out of disk space, and within minutes I was able to use their system to upgrade my plan and move my site to a larger partition.” – David K.

With a standard shared hosting plan, you’re at the whims of other webmasters who share the same server. Some companies put hundreds of websites on the same physical server. If one of those sites experiences significant growth or gets a sudden influx of traffic, your site’s performance will suffer. There are only so many resources to go around. When one site needs more resources, it’ll hog them and cause issues with the other sites.
Virtualization is a framework or methodology of dividing the resources of a computer into multiple execution environments. Virtualization techniques create multiple isolated partitions (Virtual Machines (VM) or Virtual Private Servers (VPS)) on a single physical server. There are several kinds of virtualization techniques which provide similar features but differ in the degree of abstraction and the methods used for virtualization.
However, the automatically-generated certificate is "self-signed" which means users will get browser warning that the connection can't be trusted (because there might be a man-in-the-middle intercepting the encrypted traffic). The solution is to install a free LetsEncrypt certificate by going to Virtualmin > Server Configuration > SSL Certificate > Let's Encrypt > Request Certificate. If you've done everything correctly your web site will now load with no warnings.

For outgoing mail, this automatic presentation of the correct certificate doesn't work because Postfix doesn't support it. Instead, we have to sign the Postfix certificate with one certificate that contains every domain on the server that is used for autoconfigured outgoing mail (the LetsEncrypt limit is 100 domains). This means that the main domain in Virtualmin (the parent of the server hostname that we already used to sign the server certificate, let's call it myserver.com) must be configured at Virtualmin > Server Configuration > Website Options with "Default website for IP address?" set to "Yes" and for all other domains the setting "Website matches all sub-domains?" must be set to "No".
Essentially, here’s the criteria I would use to judge things – if your site is made up of primarily static, HTML-based content, then you probably don’t need a VPS package.  However, if you have a large amount of files stored, multiple sites, dynamic content, and the possibility of major traffic from time to time, then you might consider upgrading to a VPS. It’s a powerful package that allows you to do more than you could with a shared hosting plan, but requires less investment than a dedicated server.
You will need to change the Domain Name System (DNS) settings to point to each new site that is added to your VPS - this is how the human-readable website addresses and email addresses get translated into machine-readable IP addresses. Each DNS change can take 24 hours or more to propagate around the worldwide DNS network. If you're impatient you can access the site in "preview" mode at Virtualmin > Services > Preview Website or you can access the site directly by IP address (by entering an address like https://192.0.2.0 in your web browser) or you can modify the "hosts" file on your computer (on Windows this is usually located at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts, on a Mac it's at /etc/hosts and you need to be an administrator in both cases).

Every plan has some appealing configuration options. In particular, along with support for the usual Linux variants – CentOS, Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian – you can choose Windows Server 2008, 2012 or 2016 for only a $5 a month premium. That's very good value, and if you're more familiar with Windows than Linux, it could save you from lots of management hassles later on.

You may need to install extra packages that are required by the programs you install. Often the installation program for a content management system will do a configuration check and inform you about missing packages or configuration settings that need to be changed. Some examples that I have found useful (install from Webmin > Software Packages > Package from APT):
VPS hosting plans can be installed with a choice of Windows VPS or Linux VPS operating systems to create a custom web server stack environment for software development and operations support of websites or mobile applications in production. Most web hosting companies use OpenStack or CloudStack with KVM virtualization, Citrix Xen Server, Parallels, OpenVZ or Virtuozzo to orchestrate their VPS platforms.

It can take hours to build a web server with support for all of the programming languages and latest web standards. Managed VPS plans bring all of the software required for programming and web development (DevOps) into a PaaS product that is available instantly. From this, there are also many differences in LAMP stack configurations between webhosts. Buying a Managed WordPress VPS hosting plan with pre-configured Nginx and Varnish Cache installation can save thousands of dollars in web development costs for small businesses.

VPS web hosting will generally provide you with a greater level of server access, along with the ability to customize your server environment as you see fit. Some, like WordPress VPS hosting, will have certain restrictions for plugin use and overall configuration. However, others will operate more or less like a clean slate, allowing you to choose your operating system and build whatever configuration will supercharge your site the most.
Shared hosting is like you are living in a room with a lot of friends. It means you must fit in the same room and you must split the cost of several things because it is affordable and cheap. However, several individuals are sharing the same space, it means everyone needs to live within a space with restricted resources among them. You will have to use the same things (that sounds a little unhygienic).

Be careful, though – there are some common traps many people fall into. Firstly, the promotional prices are only on offer for a month, after which you’re paying between $49.99 and $299.99/month on any of its five plans. Secondly, the 30 day, money-back guarantee is only valid for those who subscribe for a year or longer. Everyone else only has 48 hours to claim a refund.
