Hey there, apologies for the delay in responding! Thank you for your interest in considering your web hosting options. We do have a reseller hosting option. To answer your question between shared and VPS hosting, I would recommend VPS hosting. This would allow each of your clients to have their own cPanel, whereas a shared account would only include one cPanel account. I recommend contacting our Sales Team via live chat for the most recent/up to date "rates". There are multiple options that you can consider; the prices are also available on our VPS hosting page. I hope this helps!
InMotion Hosting's Virtual Private Servers are now using Solid State Drives (SSDs), a type of hard drive that uses no mechanical parts and provides substantial performance upgrades from traditional spinning drives. Solid State Drives give you faster read/write speeds, can handle more disk requests and can push through significantly more data than a standard Hard Disk Drive (HDD).
Virtual private server (VPS) hosting is a type of web hosting that uses software to emulate multiple servers on a single virtual host. Even though the websites are hosted on the same physical machine, VPS hosting allows each server to be entirely independent, treating them as if each site were on its own separate machine. One advantage of VPS is that it fits in well with other hosting plans. A virtual hosting plan gives clients another hosting option that fits between most shared hosting and dedicated hosting pans.
A VPS is an excellent choice for web developers, webmasters, resellers, and for those who run resource-intensive websites. Each VPS Plan under Namecheap operates and performs exactly how an independent physical machine would, featuring security and flexibility for your websites, independence from neighbors, full control over your hosting environment, and Dedicated Server power. The best part? It's all at an affordable price.
Yes, by default all of our servers come managed! Our servers are configured with a Fully Managed image using your choice of cPanel/WHM or Plesk control panel. Management level is determined by which server image is being used. If desired, you can customize your desired level of management level. View full details of our management tiers here. We’re confident we’ve got you covered!
VPS is short for a Virtual Private Server, which refers to the partitioning of a physical server into multiple servers. You can think of a VPS like a Dedicated Server, where you can enjoy all the components a Dedicated Server offers yet you pay a lower price. Each VPS also features its own OS (Operating System) and allows for separate rebooting. Since each OS receives a specific share of the resources from the physical server, each one is isolated from one another and cannot interfere.
All our VPS hosting plans come with a developer friendly auto installer along with the most popular web scripts & operating system templates. Premium collection of engineer-optimized VPS installation containers will do all the hard work for you. Now you can install almost any Linux operating system, with or without add-ons, build Minecraft or VPN servers, start an ultra fast Wordpress VPS cloud server or simply integrate all-in-one LAMP with only one simple click.
A VPS is not the same as a dedicated server, but it gives the illusion of being one. A good Web developer can do almost anything on a VPS that they would want to do on dedicated server, however, a VPS hosting plan is substantially less expensive, comes with technical support, and the hardware behind a VPS is not your responsibility. Sure, cheap servers can be acquired, but they will require a far larger overhead in terms of physical security and technical maintenance, security and support. Ultimately, a VPS can be the perfect solution when you need more flexibility and features than a shared hosting plan, but are not in the market for your own dedicated hosting server.
WHM's Backup Configuration section is one of the most powerful and vital tools for an administrator of multiple sites. It allows you to manage each of your individual cPanel backups separately, giving you the choice of backup cadence (daily, weekly, monthly and manually) and location. Preserving your clients business-critical files, data and site content is of the utmost importance. Work with your clients on implementing a backup schedule and location that is appropriate for their site(s) and make sure they have the peace of mind that their data and site material are safe.
koding.com has a free VM running Ubuntu. The specs are pretty good, 1 gig memory for example. They have a terminal online you can access through their website, or use SSH. The VM will go to sleep approximately 20 minutes after you log out. The reason is to discourage users from running live production code on the VM. The VM resides behind a proxy. Running web servers that only speak HTTP (port 80) should work just fine, but I think you'll get into a lot of trouble whenever you want to work directly with other ports. Many mind-like alternatives offer similar setups. Good luck!
f. In a few minutes, the Instance State column on your instance will change to "running" and a Public IP address will be shown. You can refresh these Instance State columns by pressing the refresh button on the right just above the table. Copy the Public IP address of your AWS instance, so you can use it when we connect to the instance using SSH in Step 4.
Virtual means that the server runs in a virtualized environment, a cloud server rather than a physical server. This differentiates Virtual Private Servers from dedicated servers, which are physical machines in a data center rack. Virtual servers have the same functionality as a dedicated server and they look more or less the same from the client’s perspective, except that several virtual servers live on a single physical server.
Shared hosting is like you are living in a room with a lot of friends. It means you must fit in the same room and you must split the cost of several things because it is affordable and cheap. However, several individuals are sharing the same space, it means everyone needs to live within a space with restricted resources among them. You will have to use the same things (that sounds a little unhygienic).
Similarly, in the case of VPS, there are several users that are using the same server but they are isolated from each other. It means that no one will be affected by how much resources another is using. You will get the speed and security that you need without compromise. It is almost a perfect scenario because you will get the benefits of a private server with shared cost of services.
Users of Shared hosting all share the resources on the server their websites are on. There is no guarantee of RAM or CPU with Shared hosting. Shared hosting also does not provide full root access to the server, as opposed to VPS package where users are given full root access to perform commands and make configuration changes to their hosting environment.
In this case, providers do not offer any help in case any problems are encountered with unmanaged VPS accounts. The customers should, therefore, have a thorough knowledge of Linux operating system and understand the ways to control the VPS so as to ensure uptime, reliability, and server stability. There may be problems related to resources, software, performance, or configuration- all of them have to be handled by the clients themselves. The web host will only look into problems related to network or hardware in case of unmanaged hosting.
Virtual Private Server Hosting or VPS Hosting is essentially a dedicated server within a shared hosting environment. With VPS Hosting, each customer can run their own virtualized operating system within a partition of a dedicated server. Even though multiple customers are on the same physical machine, VPS Hosting allows each customer's account/website to have all the capabilities of being on their own separate machine. This type of hosting offers advanced performance and flexibility with the ability to customize at an affordable price.
In a Managed VPS product, InMotion Hosting remains responsible for configuring and managing the VPS for the customer. That means we do the initial set-up, perform upgrades, and if something fails to operate correctly on our end, we fix it right away with minimal downtime to your site. You have access to your server through cPanel to do whatever you want with your site. We make sure the VPS gets regular updates, remains secure, and ensure that our resources run according to specifications. The rest is up to you.
Most people are clueless about the virtual servers hosting and how they actually work on the shared environment. It is a known fact that thousand and more number of users tend to use a server at a time. In such circumstances, each user is allocated with a designated amount of disk space, bandwidth, CPU allocation, memory and Operating System, which can be used on the server. All the Virtual Private Server users share the same CPU and RAM and think that, they have dedicated set of hardware. Virtual Server software is loaded onto the physical system and from then, a virtual server is ready to be used.
If you'd like to run a VPS, I'd suggest you to look for a managed one with cPanel. cPanel is a piece of software that facilitates a lot configuring the server, while managed means that the support guys will help you with initial configuration of the server, and also help you out with config/upgrades whenever you need help. It's a bit more expensive than non-managed, but if you don't know how to manage/administer a server, than it's essential. You can find a decent managed VPS in USA from 20 $ and up.
VPS has clear advantages for website hosting as it offers a huge level of flexibility over shared website hosting, without stretching your budget to a dedicated server. A VPS offers you an environment for development and testing for your website hosting. For example, you could choose to have a VPS dedicated to testing and a separate VPS running simultaneously for your live or production websites. Without the need for two physical servers you can safely debug software, install major changes and software updates in a secure environment without affecting your live websites. You can also use a VPS for back-up or file storage. It's easy to switch between virtual servers so you can protect and maintain website visibility online even while undergoing extensive development work.
Unlike managed VPS plans, unmanaged VPS plans are not actively managed by A2 Hosting. Unmanaged VPS plans are for more advanced users who are comfortable using the command-line interface and doing system administration tasks. These plans include root account access so you can customize the server as much as necessary. As a result, you are responsible for the following items:
Cloud hosting: This type of hosting is slightly more expensive than shared hosting (similarly priced to VPS hosting). Rather than using a single server to store and load your site, a cloud system distributes resources across many different computers for faster response times. However, this model typically doesn’t give you root access, and its distributed structure presents fundamental security challenges.
